'Based on a True Story' is a project created by three young women who share a deep passion for women's safety through storytelling. Our work is inspired by true events, and explores the everyday fears and pressures women face, both online and in public spaces. Our project's aim is to bring awareness and shed light on the disturbing, yet everyday reality that women around the world face through an interactive mixed media showcase. All of our work is deeply rooted in the truth, the real-life experiences, the validated statistics and the credited peer reviewed articles.

Our project will take the form of a physical space showcasing two nonlinear interactive stations that each, in their own way, replicate specific experiences, situations and threats women face throughout their life. From an audio immersive visual piece highlighting the precautions, dangers and inner thoughts of a woman walking alone at night, to an interactive Instagram replica coded from scratch with the aim of showing the user how it feels to deal with online harassment first hand.
